FIRST REPLY FROM WASHINGTON STATE OFFICIAL

Hello Mr. Connolly,

Thank you for your message and your interest in our web site.  I’ve referred your email to our lead staff on climate change issues, but unfortunately he is out of the office until next week.  However, he is very prompt about responding to his messages and I’m sure he’ll get back to you as soon as he can once he’s back in the office.  His name is Seth Preston, so you can expect an email from him within a week or so.  I hope that meets your needs.

Thanks again for your interest!

As part of doing the right thing with regard to knowing my requirements for emission testing, I ran into claims on the Washington Ecology Site that claim we are creating climate change with our vehicles without providing any proof to the claim!

Here is my statement to the state using their comment form:

“I am interested in the studies used to make these claims.  I am sure there is some truth to some of it, but I don’t think it is wise to throw unqualified opinions about problems that may or may not exist without references.  I especially would not do this if I were using it to justify taxation or fees used to solve these problems.  Here is the content that you post currently:

‘Motor vehicle are Washington’s main source of air pollution. They cause more than half of our air pollution statewide. This pollution causes cancer, asthma, and other health problems. More than 50 percent of Washington’s residents suffer from at least one medical condition that is made worse by air pollution.

Motor vehicles also produce more than half of the greenhouse gas emissions in our state. Greenhouse gases cause climate change. Effects of climate change in Washington include reduced snow pack, low summer stream flows, more winter flooding, increased coastal erosion, reduced water supplies for people and agriculture, and further loss of salmon habitat.’

As you may know, there are also far more credible studies putting your statements in a bad light.  Here is one article that will help your research.  http://policynetwork.net/environment/media/alarmist-claims-un-climate-change-report-refuted

I’m not angry.  I know many people in this country trust prominent leaders until proven wrong.  But now, with proof, it is time to start sticking to real science and not putting politics over science.

Please consider altering your verbiage so that it is more fact based and not alarmist fiction.  I ask this, because I, along with all the other people in this great state, am paying to host these false claims as well as paying for the solutions that are supposed to fix them.   All we want is honest government. This is not honest. Or if it is, where‘s the research, summaries and analysis?  “Al Gore made a movie” is not a sufficient answer.

Sincerely,”

Opinion “C” is: It will likely go in one ear and out the other, but everytime a reasoned debate is lost on the alarmists mind, it creates an air of instability in their thinking.  If it gets them to look for truth, we won someone to the notion that it might be good to be credible.
